A Family update!

Hello All!
I didn't realize I haven't written anything about bret in my blog since two weeks after we brought that bundle of joy home. I'm terrible at this. I'll do better.
Jaron and I are really getting the hang of this whole parenting thing:) It was scary at first because they handed bret to us and said farewell lol. The only reason we are still sane and not sleep deprived is because Bret is the most amazing baby! He has always slept through the night for us, always a happy baby and rarely has a bad fussy day. Jaron and I both agree that becomeing parents was the best thing that has happened to us! Bret brings amazing joy into our household!
The social workers that we have had have been really good too! They have been very positive and gotten things done quickly. We also have Debbie, brets physical therepist come into our home once a month to check on Bret's feet and development of his body. She has said nothing but good things about Bret. His development is ridiculously amazing for what he went through during the pregnancy.
Bret also had visitation once a week with his great-grandparents. That was a wonderful visit for both of us. They are a great christian couple and was able to give us information about bret's bio mother. We formed a friendship with them and are excited to have them be available to Bret as positive bio family. The visits did end about a month ago because we are so close to the adoption date.

Now this is the time we need our Prayer warriors! This kind of things happen when the adoption date gets closer.....Bio family tend to get scared and try thier last ditch effort to get the child back.
Bret's Bio father has gone back and forth with wanting his rights taken away to trying to fight for Bret. We have gone through this whole process without having any hiccups (which is unusual), until now. The social worker said it is very unlikely that the father will be able to get Bret back because of how he is living his life right now. If he continues to fight he can prolong the adoption process for another 9months-1 yr! His next court date is in January. The court will hopefully be taking his rights away, if he doesn't fight it the adoption could be finalized within a couple months!
Jaron and I are trusting God through this hard news and praying that we will have peace about the whole situation....but I have to be honest....having the fear of your boy getting taken away scares the crap out of me! My heart breaks everytime I think about it.
Jaron and I really need your prayers during this time. We knew the foster/adoption process was going to be emotional but we werent ready for this.
I will definitely keep you guys updated.

Home sweet home

I brought my son home on March 22nd!.......wow, I love the sound of that. I would have never thought that those words would come out of my mouth so soon. Its been almost two weeks since we brought him home and I still catch myself starring at him in awe. I love him so much already.
The other night as I went into Brets nursery at 3 o'clock in the morning to rock him back to sleep I caught myself thinking back of the stress and worry of not being able to have children of my own but there I was holding this precious little baby; a baby that God has placed in my arms, a baby that I can call my son. I thank the Lord everyday for this little miracle. With tears running down my face as I kiss his cheek we both just stared at each other :) I will never forget that moment. The moment when it kicked in that I was holding my child, something I have been waiting for for a long time.
Bret loves Jaron....let me rephrase that.....Bret absolutely LOVES Jaron! Jaron walks in the room and starts talking and brets eyebrows go up looks for jaron and smiles! It melts my heart seeing them together. Jaron will play his guitar and sing for Bret and Bret will just sit and stare:)
Bret is totally comfortable with Jaron and I. I could tell that to him we are his mommy and daddy. We are a family!
Please continue to pray for Jaron, me & Bret as we continue with the adoption process. We still have a long road ahead of us and there is still that slight chance that bret can get taken away from us because he is still in our home as a foster child and his bio mother can still try to get him back. Its all in the Lords hands. I have to repeat that to myself everyday! Its ALL in the lords hands.

Love at first site!

What a week! We found out we were going to finally see bret about a week ago, during that week of waiting I caught the flu/cold.....whatever it was. Saturday night I was so sick all the way through Monday. I finally looked at the back of my throat and realized I had strep! Really?!!!! The day before I get to see my son! I was so worried I would have to call off the visit and we would have to wait another week. I rushed over to the urgent care and waited 2 1/2 hours before they could see me. As the nurse came into the room she was already writing me up to pick up an prescription. I asked her if it would kick in soon enough because we were going to meet our son in the morning. Her head dropped and said "I'm going to do something for you. Being an infertility patient myself, no matter how many times I tell you not to kiss him and hug him I know you are going to do it anyways. I'll give you the shot in the butt for no charge and that will make you fine to see bret in the morning." Praise the Lord! It was such a blessing not only because we didn't have to reschedule our visit but because she didn't charge us for that shot!

Last night, we were in bed and Jaron was praying for our morning to go smoothly. He also said something that made me cry (but he doesn't know that), it touched my heart in a very sensitive way. Jaron prayed, that in the morning when I saw bret that a piece of my heart that has been missing would be fulfilled. Jaron has seen me go through so much pain the last 7 years of not being able to have children, and he knew that holding that little boy would give me something that I have been missing....something that has been a desire that my body could not give me.
Jaron was right, the moment Bret was brought into the room he took my breath away with how perfect he was. That moment I held him I felt complete. With jarons arm around my shoulder and bret in my arms we were a family! I had the family that God promised me even though at times I never thought it would happen.
Bret is a very happy, smiley baby! Every time Jaron would talk to him his was grinning from ear to ear. I know he is going to be a daddy's boy!
Well, we knew it would happen, the visit had to end, we had to say good bye but not forever we will be seeing him on Thurs:)
As we left the office Jaron said "now that was a cute baby!"
We will bring him home on March 22nd!!!!!!!
I wish I could post a picture for you all to see but we aren't allowed for brets safety. You will see him soon enough:)
Continue us in your prayers because brets mother is still out there and may try to get him back. If that happens Jaron and I pray that we will be strong enough and just know that bret was in our home for a reason, even if it is for a short amount of time. The time that we have him (hopefully forever) we want to surround him in our love and the love of the Lord.

Oh Boy!.....literally.

Tuesday afternoon I got a call from San Joaquin county telling me about Bret, a 5 month old baby boy! Our case worker was telling me that they thought Jaron and I matched up perfectly with this baby boy. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He was born with club foot, due to his mother using meth while pregnant with him. Look up club foot if you don't know what it is, I had no clue what it was. His feet are turned inward. He is wearing braces right now on his feet for treatment to get his feet straight. They don't know if he will need surgery or not. He is perfect to us and to the Lord.
We are told he loves to cuddle and be held, "talks" and smile all the time. Our next step in the process is to meet with his social worker and find out more information about him and his mother(who has never gone to visit with him ever). if everything falls in place and we feel God is wanting him to be part of our family we will meet him and bring him home!
This is not stopping us to fight for violet! Yes we are crazy for probably getting two kids in one year that are only a month apart in age but this is what we want:).........We are praying for the Lords will to be done. Does this really surprise you though?.....I do come from a family with 9 kids:) I have always wanted twins....this is Gods way of answering my prayers!
We will probably have bret within the next couple weeks. Pray that everything will go smoothly and we will be able to have everything ready by the time we bring him home.
I will update you guys more when we have more information!

Violet!

Violets court hearing was on the 16th of this month. It didn't really give us answers on the process. Allie (social worker) let me know that there will be another court hearing in three months (may 16th), they will be bringing information that they have to convince the judge that violet should be in a adoption home. If the judge agrees then Jaron and I will start the process to get violet in our home:) This whole process including the court hearing could take as long as 3-6 months, maybe longer.
The really good part about everything we found out yesterday was that there is no blood relative of violets that might be able to taker her from us. That is definitely an answer to our prayers.
Even though this process is taking longer than we expected, we know that its all in Gods timing! After getting the call yesterday from allie telling us its still going to be about 6 months before we can get violet in our home I knew that its all in Gods hands and I had a peace about everything. Jaron and I are going to take this time to enjoy the moments we have left not being parents:)
Thank you all for the prayers! I love that you are able to be experiencing the process with us and encouraging us every step of the way.

Baby Violet Update!

Alli( violets social worker) called me a couple weeks ago letting us know that they are moving the court hearing up by 6 months, they are going to change it from reunification with the parents to terminating the parents rights. This type of court hearing doesnt happen until the child is atleast 1 year old. The reason they are moving it so soon is because there is no way these parents can take care of a baby. The mother is able but according to the state she is a danger to violet. The father was born retarded and he needs another brain in the house to even function. so he will never be able to care for a child by himself. The court date is Feb 16th! If everything goes well, meaning, the court agrees that they need to find a permanent home for violet then Jaron and I will be getting her within a couple months after that. Since Jaron and I are foster parents we are able to get her sooner:) Side note-Violet is just under 5 months now:) There is one little scary part. Alli has one blood family member of violets that she is going to call soon to see if they have any interest in violet. If they want her Jaron and I will lose any ties we have with violet and we wont be able to fight for her because this family member is blood related. Please continue to Pray for us! These next few months are going to be the scariest and hardest. Pray for our emotions. Pray that we continue to seek the Lords will.

Baby Violet

Hey Everyone! I sure hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New years! I can't believe that we are now in the year 2012!
About 6 years ago my parents adopted a cute little girl named Ariana. If you have ever met her you will know that she brings our family so much joy and laughter. She is so funny and a blessing to be around. Her biological mother has had 9 children and so far all of them have been taken away from her the day of their birth. In August 2011 She gave birth to a baby girl named Violet. We were called by her social worker letting us know that if the court took away violet we were on the list for family placement. Violets biological mother is going through the court system right now. Violets social worker said it could take as long as July 2012 maybe longer until we find out if we are able to place violet in our home for adoption. Violet is located in Reno and is living with a foster family right now. We are told that she is being taken care of very well there.
Pray for the Lords will to be done, and if that means we don't get violet pray that we wont get discouraged and will continue to keep our eyes focused on the Lord during this process.

Here's how you can pray for us!

*Violets situation

*Waiting for an available Foster/adoption child in San Joaquin Area

*Surrogate process. Finances, contract being written up, timing
